Run the River 2022

We’re celebrating ten years of our twilight charity run along the River Thames. But our fight to put an end to wasted potential is far from over. Sign up for Run the River 2022 and help every young person get the opportunities they deserve.

With an in-person event or virtual option to choose from, there’s never been an easier way to take part.

In-person event (London)
This year, our twilight run will return to London on Wednesday 21 September.

Take on an unforgettable 5km or 10km route in London with 3,000 fellow runners and help put an end to wasted potential.

Taking part is easy:
1. Sign up
Click the green 'Sign up here!' button above, and select ‘In-person event 5km’ or ‘In-person event 10km’. Your registration fee covers the costs of the event, including our event village with an unmissable atmosphere, your technical t-shirt, and your finisher’s medal.

2. Support any way you can
Donate or fundraise to support our work. Let your friends, family and colleagues know you’ll be taking part and get their support.

3. Join us on event day
Head to Potter’s Fields Park, London, for 6:00pm on Wednesday 21 September. We can’t wait to cheer you and your fellow runners over the finish line and see you wear your finisher’s medal.

Virtual race
Prefer a more flexible option? Get involved your way to make our education system work for every child.
Sign up to take part in our virtual race wherever you are between 19 – 25 September.

Your support has never been more vital
Before COVID-19, poorer kids only had half the chance of fulfilling their potential at school than their wealthier classmates. The hurdles are now even higher.

Schools serving the most disadvantaged communities will be at the heart of our country’s efforts to recover. They’re already doing all they can to prepare their pupils for whatever lies ahead. But they can’t do it alone.

Will you help us put an end to wasted potential?

Take part in Run the River and pledge your support to help the poorest school children. Add a donation at checkout, create an online fundraising page, or donate directly to the Run the River 2022 JustGiving Campaign. You'll be helping more young people get the opportunities they deserve.

Taking part as a team
You can take part in Run the River solo or as part of a team. When signing up, team captains should click 'Create a team' and choose a team name. All other team members should select 'Find a team' and search for it by name. It's that easy.

If your company would like to cover the cost of your team, we can support with arranging an invoice. Get in touch with us at events@teachfirst.org.uk to make the arrangements.

You can also fundraise as a team using JustGiving.

If you plan to run with your team, please remember to follow your local government guidelines regarding social distancing.
